The UK’s largest Buy-to-Let company rated Disaster Recovery as its number one priority, knowing the importance of answering each and every call in the financial sector. With three call centres, disaster recovery was challenging, creating the possibility of multiple DR scenarios and necessitating multiple emergency plans. They needed to be able to track call flow into each centre in real time and invoke DR plans immediately as any problem was highlighted. They had no capability locally to manage the situation, so looked to Automated Telecoms to provide a network level solution.
Automated Telecoms worked with the organisation to put together an effective Early Warning System, both to monitor volume of calls into each centre and to highlight any missed calls – whether engaged, unanswered or not reached (NU tone). We set up agreed thresholds with the customer and ensured notifications were sent via SMS and email to nominated call centre employees. This ensured that the call centre management team were notified immediately regarding any issue in call flow or in call delivery.
We then provided a bespoke Dial In DR facility, which enabled authorised users to immediately activate a range of pre-prepared emergency plans in real time. During this period we continued to monitor traffic from the network level and would notify once any issue had been resolved. This ensured, as soon as resource was back in place, normal routing could be re-activated immediately. By using Dial In DR, all routing could be controlled remotely by landline or mobile phone.
The company is now already looking at our Managed DR solution. Whereby, once again, they will be able to define thresholds and pre-prepare emergency plans, but activation of DR plans can be automated. We expect to have a full, seamless managed Disaster Recovery solution in place with this customer during the second half of 2010.
